Pi Day and oh, That Icon

Nerds, mathematicians, lovers of all things circular today celebrate Pi Day, the day that honors π, one of the world’s most mysterious inspiring infinite mathematical constants. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 at 1:59:26 p.m., the date and time which corresponds to the first eight digits of π, or 3.1415926. π . It, March 14th is, also, the birth day of a German physicist.  Those nerds like to think that they might figure out some of those mysteries, like that guy who’s birthday is March 14th, 1879.

MIB³ released a new trailer this week and apparently these people aren’t very good at math because I don’t think MIB³ is an actual mathematical equation.  Or is it?  I don’t know.  I’m not a mathematician.  The third Men in Black installment will see both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return to their titular roles of Agent K and Agent J.  Such a dynamic duo of course is CLASSIC Artisan/Guardian.  Whether in a  professional, romantic, or often comedic relationship, Artisans and Guardians find themselves paired up with one another far more than any other temperament.  So let’s go right on ahead and take a look at this classic KTT duo.

With summer approaching Marvel released yet another fresh new trailer this week for it’s in-house blockbuster franchise The Avengers and even though Captain America looks pretty damn goofy in that helmet of his the film actually looks pretty decent.  Earth’s mightiest heroes consists of four main characters, each one of which is highly representative of the four basic personality types: Artisan, Guardian, Rational, and Idealist.  Such a dynamic pattern of awesomeness of course is a common pop-culture occurrence in: Sex and the City, the Wizard of Oz, Star Trek, the Fantastic Four, and Harry Potter among others.  Despite Captain America’s goofy a** helmet let’s take a look at Marvel’s most coveted supersquad.

Tactician’s Nobility

Meryl Streep was officially inducted into acting nobility as she won her 3rd Oscar at the 84th annual Academy Awards ascending into the ranks of Jack Nicholson (3), Katherine Hepburn (4), Ingrid Bergman (3) and Walter Brennan (3).  The small golden trophy was the first she had won in 26 long years, which is longer than some of us (me) have even been alive.  The vibrant and stunning young actress had since lost a jaw dropping 13 Oscar nominations in a row, meaning she had to sit there and watch someone else win Oscars right in front of her face 13 different times in a row.  She got one this time though, and most certainly deserved it with her critically acclaimed portrayal of infamous British Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher.  Other big winners for the night included a silent film about a french guy with a mustache The Artist which picked up Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role and Best Director.  Martin Scorsese’s Hugo also did pretty well with all the unwanted Oscars including Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Mixing and Editing.  Nine-time host Billy Crystal received some lackluster reviews for a boring show, because nowadays in order to entertain people you have to pull a Lady Gaga and show up in an egg or as a guy or whatever the hell the kids are doing these days.  On winning Streep was humble, and thanked the audience for her “inexplicably wonderful career” that has boasted a total of 17 Oscar nominations and 26 Golden Globe nominations, which is more than any actor in the history of either award.  So let’s go ahead and take a look then at this extraordinary acting talent Meryl Streep.

She stood before the Parliament and said “No, no, no.”

It wasn’t going to happen on her watch. And it didn’t.

With the Euro in crisis today, no doubt her long time critics are keeping their mouth shut on that subject. She has been proven right, but no doubt her numerous critics on both sides of the aisle won’t give her credit on that, except they had to acknowledge that she had an Iron Will.

Yes, the Iron Lady. And many didn’t mean it as a complimentary sobriquet.
