x-men apocalypse

X-Men Apocalypse premieres in a month and will feature the titular character along with his ‘four horsemen’.

Bryan Singer will be relenting from the X-Men franchise for a short period as his next contractual project is an adaptation of Jules Verne‘s classic novel: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Apocalypse a.k.a. ‘En Sabah Nur’ is a ruthless incarnation of Darwinism, simply seeking to augment or enforce natural selection and remove those who are weak, unnecessary, or those who are slowly but surely destroying their own planet.

Tyrion Lannister a.k.a. Peter Dinklage is Bolivar Trask, founder and CEO of Trask-Industries: the company that would go on to enslave mutant-kind with massive robotic Sentinel’s. As seen by some at San Diego Comic-Con this past week. Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-men: Days of Future Past will not only feature Trask’s Sentinel’s, but time-travel and a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are being sent to internment camps.

The coveted franchise will be trying to shake off X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X-Men 3: The Last Stand: both films having been absolute garbage, garnering an average 47.5% rottentomatoes score. While X-men: First Class did some damage-control, Singer will probably be looking to make some headway on the many fans of the franchise. As a matter of fact, with Sentinel’s running around, Singer could totally swing some Magneto/JFK”magic-bullet” action into the mix. Let’s just hope, assume and pray that the guy isn’t going to pull some sort of Zack Snyder. Because that would be bad. Like really bad. Speaking of the man-himself, Snyder will direct a Man of Steel sequel, featuring none other than a rebooted Caped Crusader. Does lowly gruntish simpleton Zack Snyder have sufficient enough intellectual-capacity and talent to do justice to the Justice League? NO. No he absolutely does not. Any other questions?

Desolation of Smaug

The Hobbit:The Desolation of Smaug dropped it’s first trailer this week:

And looks substantially more plot-developmental than perhaps the first one was:

#Trololol.  Literally.  Kinda.  @The_hobbit_blog will keep you updated on all things The Hobbit.  Peter Jackson and crew will more or less be looking for some cinematic redemption after the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey garnered a lackluster 65% on rottentomatoes.  Which funnily enough is more than we can say for the likes of Zack Snyder’s “Best film to date(56%)”.Desolation of Smaug 2-1

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is looking pretty boss:

Catching Fire protagonist Jennifer Lawrence a.k.a. Jay-Law as she is known on the streets SYGU’ed pretty hard this year at the 85th Annual Academy Awards taking home Best Actress for her critically acclaimed portrayal of a beautifully flawed Tiffany in mental-health narrative Silver Linings Playbook.   At the tender age of 22, #JLAW became the second youngest actress of all-time to take home the Trophy.  Let’s just say this, folks.  She’s no Zack Snyder.

Iron Man 3-4

The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards evidently put Argo in front-running position to take home The Oscar’s coveted Best Picture.  After being Oscar snubbed as a directorAffleck and his film have since cleaned up on awards culminating in SAG’s top-honor ensemble award.  Daniel Day Lewis’ Oscar chances went from 95%  to 99% with a SAG win, while Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway are also now a “shoe-in” as well or so they say.

Disney purchased 3 TV spots for tonight’s BIG GAME (Superbowl XLVII) at about 4 mill a pop while Warner Bros. opted to sit out for it’s third year in a row.  Industry insider info indicates that Warner Bros. is strongly hinging on the commercial success of Man of Steel, before “moving forward” with it’s top-priority project:  Justice LeagueThe studio has every right to be nervous, banking it’s flag-ship character hopes on a director like Zack Snyder.  Snyder had early success with 300 (60%), and arguably Watchmen (64%), but his most recent film Sucker Punch (23%), was literally god awful.  Which explains why WB execs are hesitant.

AND SO while Warner Bros’ ensemble team-up film remains in limbo, Disney’s ensemble team-up film is well into it’s phase two, with Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World coming this year.  Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige says that the studio is going to “keep taking risks” creatively  in phase two and beyond.  One of such risks was casting Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire inventor Tony Stark.  But that seemed to work out for everybody:
