(Willie Nelson is probably an Artisan, huh? Can't imagine him being anything else!)

City of New Orleans is one of my favorite songs of all time, I've performed it with my keyboard at a couple gigs I've done. >:Y!< Song was actually written by the late folk-singer Steve Goodman and made famous by another Artisan, Arlo Guthrie, a Performer and possibly the best and funniest storyteller in history.

I was browsing through this and saw We Are The World mentioned as an Artisan anthem. I think Michael Jackson is definitely an Artisan, but some of his ballads seem more like Idealist anthems. We Are The World, Heal The World, Will You Be There.

You wanna talk about wayward? Some of us Artisans are gonzo enough to enjoy hearing songs backwards. Thanks to YouTube, we can indulge our wish to hear the theme from The Dukes of Hazzard in reverse:

At first glance, the worlds of classical music and professional sports have little in common—except for a strong Artisan presence. P. D. Q. Bach, the "Weird Al" Yankovic of classical music, imagines a performance of the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony refereed and commentated like an American sporting event. When you're ready to laugh for ten and a half minutes, watch this video.

Bouncing souls - Manthem

I was alone I decided to get up
I decided to get out
I picked up the phone and gave my boys a shout
Told em I'd be out around nine
No particular plan
Just whatever comes to mind

Audrey's sensual, spontaneous dance from Twin Peaks seems like it could be an Artisan anthem without words.

Shriekback-My spine is the bassline
No Guts, No Blood: No Brains At All

My spine is the bassline, and the top line could be broken glass
All amusing views of those better men
Dirty habits' hand on the purses' strings

Quiet fear of the passing time
Gently magnify the dividing line
All this history could be blown away on a breath of lust

Roxy music- Love is the drug
Jump up bubble up - what´s in store
Love is the drug and I need to score
Showing out, showing out, hit and run
Boy meets girl where beat goes on
Stitched up tight, can´t shake free
Love is the drug, got a hook on me

Ultravox- My sex
My sex
Has a wanting wardrobe
I still explore
Of all the bodies I knew and those I want to know

Elastica- Your car
You could call me a car lover
'Cos I love it in a motor
And the way it feels
To ride around on new wheels.

Hey! I love Elastica, @Newmarket.

I like this song best, and it also has an Artisan feel. I don't think "any heart would have done" is indicative of all Artisans (we do fall and love and have relationships!) but I think overall it definitely has that SP vibe.

Riding on any wave
There is the luck you crave
They don't believe it now
They just think it's stupid

So got anything?
Anyone could have done
Who would've cared at all
Not you

Another heart has made the trade
Forget it, forget it, forget it
I don't understand how a heart is a spade
But somehow the vital connection is made

Riding on anything
Anythings good enough
Who would've thought it up
Someone like you

Just as they brought me round
Now that they brought you down
Roundabout and roundabout
Who wants a life anyway?

Another heart has made the grade
Forget it, forget it, forget it
I don't understand how the last card is played
But somehow the vital connection is made

Nice one Marmie :)

A interesting contrast between the artisan and idealist 'state of mind' can be found in this Kid Cudi track:

I know it's easy to imagine, but it's easier to just do
See, if you can't do what you imagine, then what, is imagination to you
Just a waste of space in your brain to take the place of hate or things all the same
