That reminds me of a more modern song, by Lana Del Rey. "Kinda Outta Luck."

Of course it's less of a regular Artisan lament, and more of a crazy Artisan lament:

"Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kinda fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun?
My daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back, but I'm kinda outta luck
."

Hmmm or maybe I'm misunderstanding? Maybe she's not making enough excuses for her behavior, I read the other post where you said the Artisan makes excuses.

Here's another oldie where there are excuses "He had it coming"..."Last night I gave her beating" ..."I kill nobody but my husband!" ..."And if I kill him, he had it coming!"

I have to admit when I heard the song I sympathized with the singer's excuse. It makes it easy, though, that it's sang in such a jolly, upbeat way, though, I'm sure.

Naturally, the line "he had it coming" reminded me of the "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago, perhaps the quintessential Artisan lament. :SP: >:L< >:Y!<

I know I'm repeating my recent addition to the "Artisan Anthems" thread, but "Charlie Brown" by the Coasters fits this other category with the line "Why is everybody always pickin' on me?" By the way, this song has nothing to do with the Guardian antihero of Peanuts.

Oh "He Had It Comin'" is epic. I love Chicago. I actually found that Ella Fitzgerald tune one night searching for numbers from the same musical!

The Charlie Brown example is pretty good, too. "Why is everybody always pickin' on me?" Yep! ;)

What is the meaning of "Artisan Laments?"

I don't known about the "nt" part, but that song/movie is definitely lame!

With apologies in advance, I can't resist the urge to nitpick: It's called the "Cell Block Tango." You had it comin', you had it comin'...

Click here for Dave's explanation of the concept. In terms of theory, it's about each temperament's distinct way of coping with failures, frustrations, setbacks, and disappointments.

That's not really much of an explanation, that's why I asked. I mean, what's the point? Just listing song lyrics that are complaints?

Don't you think those murderesses are sexy? I do. >:L<

I don't remember. Couldn't get past the awful cheesy singing. Once Richard Gere joins in the movie later, it really jumps the shark.

I honestly think you've confused being literate with being an N.
