Hello, I'm new here so I really hope I'm doing this right.

Both of the people I would nominate for these awards have now left us but I see that hasn't stopped others from being honored thusly so here we go.

First: Randy Pausch (and I saw a link around here to The Last Lecture so I know our esteemed boardmeister is a fan). The Last Lecture is the most amazing speech I've ever seen. It just didn't do the same thing for me in book form- it's Pausch's spirit that comes through in the delivery that makes it so extraordinary. I'll admit that I have a difficult time deciding which temperament he is and that's unusual for me, usually I can type people pretty quickly. He definitely seems Rational at times but then there's so much dreamer in him I relate to him as an Idealist (I'd love to hear the expert's thoughts...)

Second: Margaret Moth, CNN Photojournalist. They filmed a documentary about her called 'Fearless" and she truly was. She returned to Sarajevo after being shot in the face by a sniper and worked for many years in warzones after that before passing away from cancer only weeks ago. What a magnificent woman she was.

I know that there's a bevy of Artisans to choose from (and with her cigar smoking, drinking with the boys and parachuting from planes to relax ways I believe she must've been one) but I really think she deserves consideration.

Glad to be here,
~bru

Hi all ~ Uh oh! She's baaaack! Heh heh ~

I know it's been a very long time since I've visited here. Gimme a break! I was personally "beating myself up" & experiencing the periodic depression Champs encounter. The good news is that I sorted through a lot of pent up snot & became somewhat of a Champion for myself, which any Champion will tell you is highly unlikely to do. The most troublesome part was having to admit, then release, people who clearly did harm ~ intentionally so. >:D<

Oh well ~ enough of that. I considered my lengthy absence an internal Rehab facility.

JACK KEVORKIAN ~ Idealist of some kind, specifically I'm surmising a Champion. Having read about his artistic endeavors is what solidified him as an Idealist ~ Champion. It turns out he was a jazz musician & composer, while also dabbling in oil painting. Sometimes he painted in blood! To me that exemplifies a personality who will, at the very least, risk public scrutiny in order to experience something new. Almost never though does an Idealist intend to bring harm to anyone.

Here's the Wikipedia link for a quick overview. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kevorkian

I am emphatically in support of his human right cause of euthanasia, which sadly sparked great fumes of judgment & hatred from Christians. :rulez: He landed in prison on 2nd degree murder charges with a sentence of 10-25 years. After numerous denials for parole, Jack was finally released from incarceration after 8 years!

Did ya know that 2 of our states actually provide a law for assisted suicide? Yep ~ Oregon was the leader, followed by Washington. >:Y!<
Know what? I desperately hope to move west, & it’s that type of political action that has altered my view about relocation to northern CA, in favor of Oregon. I so adored & visited obsessively northern CA over a 5 year period. In fact for 2 summers I sang for a band in Sonoma County.

The first time I flew & stepped foot in San Francisco, I had an overwhelming sense that I was “finally home.” I recall saying that very expletive under my breath! It became one of my top life-altering moments for sure! >:D<

Excuse me once again, as typically I’ve gone off on a trillion directions here, even though my original intent was to male a nomination or two. Lol.

One more? How about “The Boss,” BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN? While I tend to think he’s an Artisan, I’d appreciate hearing what others think. 8-)

Welcom Back!! Azure.

Kenji did question Jack's temperament, and I'm glad you have reminded us, now I have cyberspace grunt I can watch his interview links. I don't think we reached a solid conclusion:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=508&p=8977&hilit=JACK+KEVORKIAN#p8977

Bruce, I am guessing, off the cuff, a performer artisan? He and I have been spending some wonderful moments together in the car, "Girls in their summer clothes" I am channeling spring to land here early, (and it's working). :D

Hopefully will get look at Jack later tonight. Welcome back again, and I'm getting a greater understanding of Champions and their ethical work, this is really interesting.

You also just reminded me of the feeling it is to arrive back home in Australia, with your description of San Francisco and "getting home". There is a local song here that describes that for me, I'll put it up over in idealist anthems.

I love that you guys jump six fences at once, I'm the horse out the back going like the clappers trying to keep up. :D

Angela has been wading us through some ethical issues, it's been, (for me) an interesting personal internal rehab study too.

I would like to nominate the Barefoot Bandit for the Artisan of the Year award.

At Quinta's suggestion, (and seconded by myself), Julian Assange, Rational.

Damn, how the hades did this thread get 10,000 views!? I don't think anyone here would've hyped it up like that...

I think it may be the thread bypassers would look at first. They will get an impression from the examples.

Quinta, I'm going to say something that might sound rude to you, but I don't know how else to put it. You abstractoids understand each other pretty well, it seems. But as for me, I have nooo idea what in the hades you just said. What's a "thread bypasser" and what do you mean "would look at first"? And what does them getting an impression from the examples have to do with the view count in this thread?

Just something to possibly think about when you're talking to me or another concretian, or even just making a regular post. hah. :D >:D<

Someone who is a guest, scanning through the various posts on this forum, would likely look at this thread to get the best impression of what goes on here, and what KTT discussion is all about.
