Appreciate the introduction to John Wooden very much, not able to get the footage up and playing, but the kids and I will be in our 21st equipped library next week and we will play this. I read up about his life and some of his writings/thoughts/knowledge/experience, he is nothing short of inspirational. I want more. I'll find more. Love it.

Awwww, very coool. Thanks for sharing! Its wonderful to see a 'type' in example and not just on paper or in theory.

I am fortunate to have grown up with that definition of success. Also, I like how he used enthusiasm as one of his cornerstones. And he feels that the journey is more important than the end result....although, a 'successful' journey quite honestly MAKES a 'successful' end result. Anyways, lots of good stuff. Was a joy to watch.

Sub plan 4, section (vi): unable to play on said library broadband, we weren't game to tinker and try and download some new javascript thingy, will try another library. Librarians seem suspicious..and unfamiliar with John Wooden.

Amendment: Heh! Reminds self be careful what u wish for, notification (just) from library they are installing wireless internet. Dreams come true again.

I think I like that guy. While I was watching my dad came in and said, "That's John Wooden, it's said he's the greatest college basketball coach." And as I was watching it, I thought about how he was saying trying the best is all you can do, and thought about how different that is from all those coaches who get pissed off when their team doesn't win, and thought how amazing it seems that someone who seems so much more affectionate would also be so much more successful in coaching.

I don't think thats amazing at all. Its logical really. What do you respond better to? Someone who treats you with kindness or someone who yells at you? Love is always, in the long term, a more successful motivator than fear, guilt, shame, or anything like that.
