Quote1To an NT nothing can be assumed correct; all is uncertain and thus vulnerable to error.  All evidence of the senses, all procedures and products, means and ends, observation and inferences — are ultimately fallible — and therefore must be thoroughly scrutinized.Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 180

Walter Hartwell White Sr. was born in 1959, shortly before losing his father to Huntington’s disease.  Walter graduated California Institute of Technology (CIT) and contributed to proton radiography research that went on to claim a Nobel Prize in Chemistry.  After co-founding Gray Matter Technologies with his roommate Elliot Schwartz, Walt left the company due to romantic differences with a lab worker Gretchen.  For his share Walt received 5,000$, only to subsequently see Gray Matter evolve into a billion-dollar company.  Taking a highly over-qualified job at an Albuquerque high-school, Walt was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.  Struggling to pay medical bills on a high-school teacher’s salary, Walt and Skyler have an unexpected daughter.  Recruiting his former student Jesse Pinkman as a distributor, Walt utilizes his knowledge of chemistry to start cooking highly potent methamphetamine.  Categorical, subjunctive, relentless, and reasonable; Walter White is a Rational.

Quote1You clearly don’t know who you’re talking to, so let me clue you in: I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the dangerQuote2―Walter Hartwell White

Jesse Pinkman 1

Quote1Artisan’s need to be potent, to be felt as a strong presence.  To be without impact, is to be deprived of oxygen.  SP’s crave impressive action; the ability to make a splash, to make things happen.Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 57

Jesse Bruce Pinkman was born 1984 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Not a stellar academic, Jesse turned to drug abuse.  Whilst on a “ride-along” drug bust with his brother-in-law Hank, Walt spots Pinkman and recognizes him as a former student.  Providing experience, insight, and distribution methods Jesse becomes Walt’s partner in a drug venture and the two “break bad”.  Frowned upon by his family Jesse comes to think of Walt as a father figure, despite the two’s tempestuous relationship and less than desirable industry.  Walt encourages Jesse to stop using, which he does intermittently, mostly to focus on their work together.  Jesse shows a distaste for bloodshed and is ultimately enraged by the actions of his partner; specifically poisoning a young boy, Brock.  After attempting to burn Walt’s house down, Jesse is detained by Hank and courted as a potential witness.  Tactical, instinctive, resilient, and adaptable Jesse is an Artisan.

Quote1What’s the point of being an outlaw when you got responsibilities?Quote2―Jesse Pinkman

Skyler White 1

Quote1NF’s are by far the most loyal of all the types but require a deep and meaningful significance.  To NF’s, life is meaningless without shared experiences and intimate relationships.  Base and superficial connections pique little interest in the Idealist.Quote2   — Please Understand Me II, p. 137

Skyler White was born August 11, 1970.  Receiving a collegiate degree in Accounting, Skyler Lambert met Walt in a restaurant near the Los Alamos National Laboratory where Walt had been working at the time.  The two married and started a family in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Content with the life they had, Skyler is initially off-put by Walt’s sudden dishonesty and seemingly reckless behaviors.  Constantly confronting his lies, she eventually get’s Walt to confess, and subsequently divorces him.  Walt purchases a car wash to launder the excess illicit money, and gets Skyler to manage it.  Skyler reluctantly runs the wash, but is still gravely concerned about the potential repercussions of Walt’s actions.  Though she remains highly unconvinced of the sustainability of Walt’s profession, she does her best to protect him because he is the father of her children.  Diplomatic, credulous, compassionate, and harmonizing Skyler is an Idealist.

Quote1Someone has to protect this family from the man who “protects” this family.Quote2―Skyler White

Hank Schrader 2

Quote1Guardian‘s are naturally drawn to the role of social protector, standing guard against the insecurities of life.  SJ’s are constantly on duty defending against loss, defeat, disappointment; and what they chalk up to the irresponsibility of human nature.Quote2  — Please Understand Me II, p. 99

Henry R. “Hank” Schrader was born in 1970.  Rising to the ranks of Assistant Special Agent, Hank is put in charge of the Albuquerque office of the Drug Enforcement Administration.  Hank’s cavalier attitude and impressive detective profile set him up for a promotion in El Paso.  Though he took the promotion, Hank had an anxiety attack followed by a PTSD incident and was forced to return to Albuquerque.  It became evident that he had become fixated on the case of a local meth king pin Mr. Heisenberg.  An unrivaled investigator Hank nearly catches Mr. Heisenberg through several key witnesses, all of which were dispatched in a timely fashion.  Frustrated, Hank is on the verge of giving up when he discovers an incriminating piece of literature in the home of his brother in-law, Walt.  Stoic, righteous, authoritative, and hard-working Hank is a Guardian.

Quote1Right here, here at the top, it says — “To W.W. My star, my perfect silence.”  — W.W. I mean, who do you figure that is, y’know? Woodrow Wilson? Willy Wonka? ………………………………….  Walter White?Quote2―Hank Schrader

  1. I would guess that “Walt” seething with rage over being cheated by Grey Matter Technologies over his rightful share and confronted with with his own mortality and more financial burdens that he can handle legitimately finds it an easy choice to cook a superior grade of meth. Although I appreciate the dark humor in the series, I haven’t watched too much of it. Too grim for me.
