Diplomat’s Destiny

NBC/Universal has evidently decided that they don’t want to suck at making movies anymore so they went ahead and took the classic tale of Snow White and made it “darker and more epic”Some cynics point out that the very premise of the film is fundamentally flawed, being a story about Charlize Theron getting jealous because Kristen Stewart is prettier than she is.  Which quite frankly doesn’t make any sense.  Superficial stupidity aside, it looks like the film is actually shaping up quite well so hat’s off to our dear friends over at Universal Studios for not sucking anymore.  The films June 1, 2012 release date is fresh off the heels of Tarsem Singh’s Mirror, Mirror (49%), which was a more family-friendly, comedy-oriented and generally less cool Snow White version.  What is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves really about you ask?  The true beauty of an Idealist’s heart.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is a classic German fairy tale about a vain and wicked Queen who’s magic mirror tells her that she must consume her step daughter’s heart in order to maintain her beauty.  Snow White’s heart is such a prized possession because it is believed to be endowed with a rare and extraordinary brilliance.  Failing to apprehend Snow White, the Queen sends a Hunstman after her, a mission that ultimately fails as Snow White’s diplomacy succeeds in disarming the Huntsman.  The two stumble upon a pack of dwarves, those of which are also no match for Snow White’s empathic allure.  The group bands together and Snow White embraces the true destiny of the Idealist.

DOUBLE UPDATE:

Even though Snow White and the Huntsman isn’t due to hit theaters for several more weeks, Universal Studios is currently in negotiations with screenwriter David Koepp to pen a sequel.

Koepp’s credits include Jurassic Park, Spider-Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Deadline reports that the studio plans to fast-track the project so that Rupert Sanders can return to direct.

It looks like Universal Studios is pretty excited about not sucking anymore and wants to keep things moving.

    1. Is it just me or do princesses and other benevolent females in movies/stories seem to be, more often than not, Idealist? Romantic, kind-hearted and idealistic, either about themselves or something else in their life. (depends on the movie) Where’s my kin? My rational girls? =) The Feeling preference is naturally attributed to women so I can see where that idea comes from. I wish sometimes that some of these women would have a brain. Not calling there actions stupid or some rant on their intelligence but, rather, having a deep mind and yearning to understand the world.
Maybe I have a point or maybe I’m just complaining. =)

      1. I am a huge believer in the fact that there are different kinds of intelligence. This is essentially the core concept of temperament. Diplomacy, Strategy, Tactics, and Logistics I believe are realms of “intelligence”. Though an Idealist may not always be book smart, they have intelligence in the realm of diplomacy. ; ) Thoughts?

  1. Sophia–just on that stereotyping of Idealists, and usually passive/dreamy/twits of females, that’s hollywood and societies spin. The Idealists are actually the one’s that go and fight where others fear to tread, eg Joan of arc an early bird. Along with Lawrence of Arabia for the male Idealists. So the fairytale is just spin, a riled and feisty Idealist on mission, despite the gender is a force to be reckoned with. Aung Sun Suu Kyi, Gandhi, Mandela, Harvey Milk, Angelina Jolie, Matilda Gage, Audre Lorde, Somaly Mam….the way females are portrayed on celluloid as passive Princesses is a myth. A tired, dreary, repetitive, nonsensical, stupid, had-it’s-use-by-date myth. Idealist females are strong, determined and very independent. 🙂 The Princesses we keep getting shoved down our throats to me, are temperament-less. No such thing exists.

  2. Interestingly, Professor Keirsey has said to me the Healer Idealists are the ‘true scholars, academic inclined’.

  3. @Sophia D. I know what you mean. I love Idealists, but what about a little variety? Idealists can be strong and intelligent, but strong and intelligent characters don’t have to be Idealist.

  4. When you say “Alice is a Rational” on your poll, which one do you mean; The one from the cartoon or the one from Tim Burton’s version and how is either of them a Rational?
