Harry Potter 6

J.K. Rowling will pen her first screen-play for a Harry Potter spin-off film series based on a fictional piece of literature entitled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  The series’ plot will revolve around one of Rowling’s favorite characters, Newt Scamander.

The Harry Potter Franchise lasted more than a decade and became the highest-grossing film series of all time, pulling in $7.7 billion internationally.

Quote1Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.Quote2 —  J.K. Rowling

And since Warner Bros. hired Zack Snyder to direct the segway film into their superhero ensemble team-up, they’re gonna need all the extra revenue they can get their hands on.

Quote1You are protected, in short, by your ability to love! The only protection that can possibly work against the lure of power like Voldemort‘s! In spite of all the temptation you have endured, all the suffering, you remain pure of heart, just as pure as you were at the age of eleven, when you stared into a mirror that reflected your heart’s desire, and it showed you only the way to thwart Lord Voldemort, and not immortality or riches.Quote2Albus Dumbledore to Harry.

Harry James Potter was born 31 July 1980 a half-blood wizard, the only child and son of James Potter and Lily Potter (née Evans).  In an unsuccessful attempt to circumvent a mortal prophecy, Voldemort attacked Harry at 3 months old, shortly after murdering his parents.  This vain attempt to destroy Harry led to Voldemort’s subsequent defeat and ended the First Wizarding War.  Harry was then adopted by his only living relative Petunia Dursley, where he was mistreated until the age of 17.  The only known survivor of a Killing Curse up to that point, Harry was recruited by and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Sorted into Gryffindor House, Harry became famous for a handful of heroic acts typically thwarting his arch-nemesis Lord Voldemort.  Credulous, inductive, altruistic, and predestinate Harry Potter is an Idealist.

Quote1The Idealist’ style of leadership is quite unlike that of other types, for they are the Catalysts.  Acting as facilitators, motivators, and energizers with their unique capability of bringing their subordinates together in cooperative actions while simultaneously maintaining high morale within them.  To NF’s, each and every co-worker is a person whom they must know and trust.    Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 147

Dumbledore 2

Quote1Albus Dumbledore was never proud or vain; he could find something of value in anyone, however apparently insignificant or wretched, and I believe that his early losses endowed him with great humanity and sympathy. I shall miss his friendship more than I can say, but my loss is as nothing compared to the wizarding world’s. That he was the most inspiring and the best loved of all Hogwarts headmasters cannot be in question.Quote2Elphias Doge in Dumbledore’s obituary.

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was born to Kendra and Percival Dumbledore in the summer of 1881 in the wizarding village of Mould-on-the-Wold.   Sorted into Gryffindor house, Albus went on to teach Transfiguration and would become Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for over 63 years.  Dumbledore also served as Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.  Largely considered to be the most powerful wizard of all time; Dumbledore was renowned for his infinite calm and serenity, his wise and prudent advice, and his somewhat whimsical nature.  An influential philosopher, Dumbledore often concluded that one can only seek power once one has truly accepted their own misgivings.  Given a death sentence by a cursed ring, Dumbledore set in motion the events that would ultimately destroy Lord Voldemort and put an end to the wizarding wars.  Pragmatic, deductive, visionary, and scientific Albus Dumbledore is a Rational.

Quote1Rationals are ever on the lookout for knowledge.  For as NT’s always say; Knowledge is power.  Rational’s often become infatuated with some particular branch of science because science ultimately yield’s power over nature.  Scratch a rational, find a scientist.  But glimpse a rational, and behold a wizard.Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 190

Quote1…probably the bravest man I ever knew.Quote2Harry Potter telling his son about Severus Snape

Professor Severus Snape was born 9 January1960 a half-blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen Snape (née Prince) and muggle Tobias Snape.  Sorted into Slytherin house, Snape served as Potions master (19811996), Defence Against the Dark Arts professor (1996-1997), and Headmaster (1997-1998) of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (which he attended as a student from 1971 until 1978).  As a student Severus developed strong feelings for Lily Evans, and thus became the immediate enemy and romantic rival of classmate James Potter and his friend Sirius Black and was a frequent victim of their mockery.  Snape developed a passion for the Dark Arts at a young age, and eventually joined the pure-blood supremacists in Slytherin House.  After leaving Hogwarts he joined Voldemort’s Death Eaters, following a large contingent of his Slytherin classmates.  In an attempt to save and then avenge his secret love Lily Potter, Severus switched sides and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and served Dumbledore as a pivotal double agent during the Second Wizarding War.  With Dumbledore’s help, Snape sacrificed his own life to deceive Voldemort and subsequently bring about the Dark Lord’s demise.  Cunning, resilient, dynamic, and courageous Severus Snape is an Artisan.

Quote1Artisans can spot things that give them an edge where others can’t.  Indeed the SP has no peer in negotiating tense situations, and identifying and exploiting the vulnerability that allows them to emerge victorious.Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 61

Hermione Jean Weasley was born 19 September1979 the only daughter of muggles Mr and Mrs Granger, dentists residing in London.  At age eleven, Hermoine learned that she was a witch and was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Sorted into Gryffindor House, Weasley displayed a brilliant academic aptitude and was a very hard-working student.  Initially rubbing off on classmates Harry and Ron as an intolerable know-it-all, the three soon became close friends and formed a lasting and meaningful friendship.  Hermoine embraced the Wizarding culture, tirelessly studying its intricacies.  She soon developed a reputation for always having the right answer, and being a teacher’s pet.  Showing compassion as well as book smarts, Hermoine founded S.P.E.W., a philanthropic organization aiming to promote the betterment of house-elves.  After finishing her studies, Hermoine found employment with the Ministry of Magic, and eventually the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.  Concerned, studious, dependable, and beneficent Hermoine Granger is a Guardian.

Quote1The care of others particularly the young and old, the impaired and the infirm; weighs heavy on the heart of the Guardian.  SJ’s fit very easily into the service industry, shouldering responsibilities and doing their duty un-dauntingly. Quote2 — Please Understand Me II, p. 94

      1. Sure enough. I don’t doubt for a second the validity of your arguments but typing fictional characters exactly can be tricky because we can never confirm the truth. The point of my pop-culture blogs is to expand peoples views of temperament theory as a whole. With that said you are absolutely right and thanks for your input!

      2. Agreed, expanding pop cultures view of personology is something that interests me greatly. And I imagine that since fictional character are embodiments of the authors own weltanschauung than those characters will have a somewhat tainted temperament. If you can observe an element of consistency throughout the story, and their are distinct traits that correspond to temperament, and several parties can agree on the interpretation of the aforementioned; then we might be able to outline a basic schematic of personality expression of our beloved heroes, heroines and villains. Remember that with in each type, is the existence of all other types as well. We are merely expressing the one that gives us the most desired effect with the least amount of work.

  1. Mr. Keirsey,

I am sorry, but are you absolutely sure that Severus Snape is an Artisan? It was always obvious to me that he is a Rational- pragmatic, deductive, brilliant scientist, skillful wizard.

    1. Yes absolutely, Severus could be a Rational. What I found with the wizarding world in general is that a lot of the concepts wizards embrace are conducive to the Rational mindset. Many think Hermoine is a Rational given her adherence to logic, her booksmarts, etc. Often times fictional characters are difficult to type because of their versatility. With that said you are absolutely right! But then who would be my Artisan? ; )

      1. Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your reply. I understand why many people can spot a Rational in Hermione but you yourself stated that Rationals and Guardians tend to have similar approach to their professional lives- skeptical attitudes, workaholism, dedication. I think (maybe I am profoundly wrong) that Guardians and Rationals may have similar qualities but they have different reasons to have them.

May I offer you an Artisan?

Sirius Black is an Artisan through and through!

  2. Sorry authors, your analyses of the characters are a disservice to work of Keirsey. Use your mind and imagination, I know it’s there. Hermione: INTJ Snape: INTP. No word or action in themselves can be attributed to any type, it’s is the meaning that is ascribed to such that differentiates the types.

      1. Just a few points on Snape:

Known through all 7 books to be calm, collected, and intense.
Powerful mind as shown in his ability to practice occlumency against Voldernmort for years, a feat of intense will power.
Half-blood prince- Harry used the ‘Snape’ amended potions textbook to skyrocket himself as a famed potioneer in Hogrwarts. Potions mind you are not a simple tool with immediate effect. They are complex remote abstract tools. Some even taking months to complete needing deadly accuracey.
The spells Snaped designed were extremely effective and powerful, septum sempra for example, a deadly cutting spell. Snape also knew the counter spell to heal the individual affected by it.
If he were an Artisan, he would value excitement, seek pleasure and need adventure. There is no remark whatsoever of Snape ever doing a single one of those. Rather he was Dumbledore’s and the Dark Lords confidant acting as spy. Dedicating his life to Lilly, Harry’s mother and seeking revenge that was only realised years after the death of her. Artisans would not have the fortitude to patiently enact revenge as Snape is described of doing. Hagrid is a classic example of an impulsive artisan, skilled in his practical immediate trade with an impulsive way that gets him into trouble.
Snape reeks of Inquiring inter-linker with a strategic mind, better known as Designers and Architects or INTP

Just a few points on Hermoine:

At first glance one might think Guardian for sure. She places value in the social world of the Wizarding community, she follows rules and is very studious.
Look though at what Dr. Stephen Montgomery says in his book: People Patterns p.16 – “Hermione is a spunky little Rational who keeps her nose in her book and knows all the answers.”
Serious Black at the end of the third Novel calls her the cleverest witch of her age. A thing every rational values. Not only smart, but clever with the smarts that has been given.
Known for knowing everything about everything, something much more attributed to the INTJ temperament than to any of the Guardian temperament.
Was successful in making poly juice potion at age 11, a task set out for advanced potions.
Book 7- magical undetectable extension charm on her bag. Again magic of an expert. Aspiring to Wizardry.
By comparison the Guardian friend Ron is much more simple and immediate.
        An extremely attentive enterprising rational.
A clear example of a master of “Event-Occasion” relationships.
As is mentioned of an INTJ can make decisions very quickly, but only once all the research has been done. She grabbed Harry and Ron aparated to safety in an instant when the Wedding was being invaded by death-eaters.
At odds with Harry constantly as needing to make a plan prior to engaging in dangerous activity. A pragmatic option.
Whilst follows school rules, willing to break them when they do not suit pragmatics
Hermione is clearly an example of a mastermind, a planner an INTJ

  3. Dear Derek, I’m curious, are you more interested in posting colourful posts than reaching accuracy in presenting your father work?
